Created in 1956, a great year for professional photography with the foundation of BALCAR S.A. company by Mardick BALLI. A fashion photographer, he began producing equipment for his own use, and then made it available to the whole field: the first umbrella, the grid spots, the fibre optics, and of course a wide range of electronic flash units.
Throughout the years, BALCAR has introduced many new products including the first fluorescent lighting for TV applications: the “Fluxlite”. In the early 1990s, BALCAR entered the world of television with this revolutionary high efficiency lighting. Today, these lights are used for teleconferencing, virtual studios, movie production, and even art restoration.
In 2005, Balcar joined the Fokia group of companies, and with this fresh start, continued the development of new products. BALCAR introduced the re-designed compact Spotflux in 2006, the Roundy ringlight in 2008 and the Super Lite with T8 tubes for location lighting in 2009.
